Our podcast hosts Rhonda Taylor, Dave Briglio and commentator Kris Lipscombe recently spoke with both #Olympic silver medallist #SarahNurse of #TeamCanada and the #PWHPA, as well as Canada's National Women's Under-18 Team and Yale Bulldogs alumna #SaroyaTinker of the #NWHL about the added challenges of #ethnicity and #race both faced while rising up the ranks of the #womenshockey world.
"It's still a white male-dominated sport," Nurse says. "When I walked into a hockey arena, I was known as the 'black girl' on my team."
"Yale (University) being an incredibly white space, especially at the hockey arena, they were unaware of their ignorance and they weren't willing to educate themselves," Tinker adds.
